UNITED VETERANS' COUNCIL
of Greater Woonsocket
 
Welcome to the newest addition to the United Veterans Council of Greater Woonsocket. This website is for all of us to connect by showcasing information that should be made available to all. The United Veterans Council is made up of 6 different Congressionally recognized Veteran Organizations and 1 local Veteran Organization that was created by you, the Citizens and Veterans of the City of Woonsocket. 
 
The United Veterans Council is a non-partisan, non-profit, 501(c)(3) incorporated organization registered with the state of Rhode Island.

Mission:
  • To promote harmony and comradeship among in between the military veteran's member organizations of the city and its bordering communities of this city of Woonsocket RI by mutual assistance avoiding taking part in the internal affairs of such member organizations and for all other purposes and activities as permitted to a not-for-profit corporation under the laws of the state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.
  • To uphold and maintain the constitution and the laws of the United States of America and to uphold the ideals of true citizenship and all other purposes and activities as permitted to not-for-profit corporation under the laws of the state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.
  • United Veterans Council shall be non-political and shall not be used for the dissemination of partisan principles nor the promotion of candidacy of persons public office or preferment
  • To Foster and Safeguard the rights and privileges to which veterans are legally entitled to and for which they fought to regulate and oversee locally the proper observances and celebrations of Memorial Day, Victory Day, Veteran's Day and any other significant holiday that the council sees fit to recognize observance of the following holidays will be as follows:
  1. Memorial Day: The united veterans council shall oversee the proper observance of this holiday.
  2. Victory Day: The United veterans council shall oversee the proper observance of this holiday with the assistance from member organizations and or assigning a volunteer member organization to hold a proper function for this occasion.
  3. Veteran's Day: The United veterans council shall oversee the proper observance of this holiday.
  4. Participate in the city's annual autumn-fest parade.
  5. Annual selection of an individual (who is a veteran) for the United Veterans Council’s "Veteran of the Year” it is a member of one of the member organizations of the United Veterans Council.

AMVETS TO HOLD LIVE EVENT AUG 17th 2025 69 Years o

 AMVETS Hosts First Ever Major Outside Live Event!!!
AMVETS have made a comeback!!! And not too late, we are at 69 Years since we mustered. This event will spark the first of many annual events for the future!!!

  • 1245PM Memorial Ceremony 3-Rifle Volley, Dedication for the new Name of our Hall 
  • 1PM Dirt Old Men will be playing LIVE!!!
Notes: 
  • Parking Available across the street at the diner and at the school.

  • The event is to raise the funds to remodel the upstairs hall as we will be dedicating it to all of our past members, supporters and friends. We will also be calling it Memorial Hall for that reason.
